Just in time for Halloween the craft for today is a DIY Candy Corn Shirt.
Seeing candy corn on the store shelves signifies the start of fall for me. It may be one of my favorite candies even though I haven’t had it in a few years. There was a mishap of eating an entire autumn mix bag in one sitting and not realizing it while being completely enthralled in a TV series that led to a seriously upset stomach. So I’ve unfortunately had to take a break. As a nice substitute this year I’ve decided to make my little guy an adorable candy corn shirt.
This shirt is extremely simple to make and would look great on anyone.
- Masking Tape
- Foam Brush
- Fabric Paint (Red and Yellow)
- Plain White T-Shirt
The first part of this is to place a piece of cardboard in the shirt to that the paint doesn’t leak through.
Next, tape one strip about a third of the way up.
Paint the bottom orange. In case you only have primary colors (red + yellow = orange).
Let it dry completely, then remove the tape.
Place a strip of tape over the top of the orange and another separating the top of the shirt from the middle. You want it to roughly be about a third of the shirt.
Paint this part yellow.
Wait for it to dry then remove the tape. (I have to admit that I rushed through this one, as you can tell. Life with a toddler doesn’t allow for a lot of time on projects that he can’t be part of. It still came out to be super cute, so I’m happy with it.)
Now it’s ready to wear.
